🧪 Peptide Research Store — Setup & Operations Guide
1. What This Store Does
This is a complete e-commerce storefront for selling research-grade peptides. It includes a public catalog with product images, science data (amino acid sequence, molecular weight, purity, pathways), Certificates of Analysis, a multi-step checkout, order tracking, and a full admin panel for managing everything.
2. First-Time Setup Checklist
Step 1 — Branding: Go to Settings → Profile. Set your company name, tagline, support email, and brand colors. These appear on the storefront header, hero section, emails, and legal pages.
Step 2 — Products: Go to Products and click + Add Product. For each peptide, fill in: name, amount (e.g. 5mg), price, SKU, stock count, description, and the science fields (sequence, molecular weight, purity, pathways, storage). Products with science fields get a "Science Info" card and a COA button on the storefront.
Step 3 — Payment: Go to Settings → Integrations → Payments. Set your Zelle info (phone or email customers send to). For Stripe card payments, add your Stripe publishable key here, and put your Stripe secret key in state/operator-secrets/stripe/payload.env on the server.
Step 4 — Shipping: Shipping rates are configured in store settings (Standard, Priority, Express). To enable one-click label creation, add your USPS or UPS API credentials in Settings → Integrations. Without carrier credentials, you use manual tracking entry.
Step 5 — Legal: Go to Settings → Legal. Add your RUO disclaimer, terms stub, privacy stub, and refund stub. These are auto-expanded into full legal pages. The disclaimer appears in the store footer and on all documents.
Step 6 — Email: To send order emails from your own domain, go to Settings → Integrations → Google Workspace and add your Gmail/Workspace address + app password. Without this, emails send via the system Resend SMTP.
Step 7 — Domain: To connect a custom domain, go to Settings → Integrations → Domain. Enter your domain name and click Connect. This configures nginx + Cloudflare tunnel automatically.
3. Daily Operations — Order Lifecycle
Order Flow: Placed → Paid → Processing → Shipped → Delivered
1. Customer places order on storefront → order appears in Orders tab as "awaiting payment"
2. For Zelle: customer sends payment, you verify and click ✓ Paid → customer gets payment confirmation email
3. Go to Fulfillment tab → order appears in "Paid → Ready" queue → click ⚙ Process to start packing
4. Assign batch numbers per item if needed → print packing slip (🖨 Slip) → print product labels (🏷 Labels)
5. Click 📦 Ship USPS/UPS (if configured) or 📦 Manual Track to enter tracking → customer gets shipping email with tracking number
6. When delivered, click ✅ Delivered → customer gets delivery confirmation email
4. Peptide-Specific Features
Certificate of Analysis (COA): Auto-generated for every product that has purity/sequence data. Customers can view it from the product detail drawer. Printable HTML page with product specs, purity test results, and QC pass.
Science Info Card: Products with sequence, molecular weight, pathways, or amino acid count display a blue science card in the product detail drawer. This builds trust with researchers.
Storage Instructions: Add storage info (e.g. "-20°C lyophilized") to each product. Shown as a yellow advisory card in the product detail.
Batch Tracking: In the Fulfillment panel, assign lot/batch numbers to each item before shipping. These appear on packing slips and link to COAs.
Low Stock Alerts: Products with ≤10 units trigger a yellow alert on the Overview dashboard. Stock auto-decrements on orders and auto-restores on cancellations/refunds.
